Mycorrhizae in young trees: the value of reassessment
A study follows mycorrhizal establishment after stump treatment.
Study published:
Repeated assessment
Ectomycorrhizae on young Douglas-fir trees were examined several years after chloropicrin application to stumps for root disease control. [1]
What this monitoring found
Naturally occurring fungi formed ectomycorrhizae in treated areas too. Mycorrhizal abundance and types were comparable with untreated areas. [1]
A connection with our Center
For our educational archive, the paper offers an example of reassessing a specific indicator. We want the organism examined and elapsed time clearly recorded, so different observations can be discussed within their own context.
Presentation context
The assessment concerned mycorrhizae on sampled seedlings at the particular site. The educational connection is our own.
