Klebsiella planticola: wheat, nematodes and soil interactions
Experimental microcosms examine the introduction of a bacterial strain.
Study published:
The design
Engineered strain SDF20 and parent strain SDF15 were tested in sandy soil, with and without wheat. [1]
Results with plants
With SDF20, bacterial-feeding and fungal-feeding nematodes increased alongside plant death. With SDF15, only bacterial feeders increased and plants survived. [1]
A connection with our Center
At our Center, we want experimental design explained clearly. This paper offers an educational discussion of controls, the presence of roots and the different organism groups recorded.
Presentation context
Findings come from the particular laboratory microcosms. The educational connection is our own.
