Pseudomonas putida: inoculation within the soil food web

An experimental assessment of introduced bacteria and a herbicide.

Study published:

The experiment

Genetically engineered and unmodified Pseudomonas putida strains were compared in soil with and without the herbicide 2,4-D. [1]

Community responses

Many microbial groups declined in 2,4-D treatments. Herbicide degradation remained undetectable, and the engineered strain had transient effects relative to the parent strain. [1]

A connection with our Center

We want our educational library to explain assessment design: which strain is examined, against which control and in which substrate. This is our own connection with our Center’s training.

Presentation context

Summary of the particular laboratory assessment described in the published abstract.
