The event and its context

IFOAM · Organics International and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation scheduled Local Solutions to Global Disruptions for 21 October 2026 during CFS54 in Rome. Partners include the Agroecology Coalition, FAO and PELUM Kenya. The wider session runs from 19 to 23 October.

Beyond an individual farming practice

The published programme links agroecology with nutrition, sustainable livelihoods and public policy. It draws on Senegal’s national strategy, Swiss support in the Global South and grassroots experiences in Africa and Latin America. Women, local dietary traditions and civil society have a central place in the discussion.

Why this matters for the Ionian Islands

Our priority is to connect soil restoration with education, cooperation and viable opportunities for growers. This calls for local participation in designing and following practical work. The programme provides a useful set of questions: whose needs guide the project, who takes responsibility and what outcomes matter to the community? The official event page establishes the agenda and organizers; any joint conclusions or implementation commitments need their own published record.
